Kyler Murray and the Will to Win
This past weekend I watched as Kyler Murray led the Cardinals to eighteen fourth-quarter points as part of an incredible comeback. The game eventually ended in a tie after overtime, but I was left breathless. What did I just witness?
In the first professional game of his career, Kyler Murray found a way to give his team a chance to win despite playing poorly for most of the game.
As I was watching the game, I could tell that Murray was hyper-competitive and was going to do everything he could to win the game. He gave everything he had. He had the will to win.
Do you have the will to win in your life? When the odds are against you, do you give up and take your loss? Do you take the easy route, or do you stand up and embrace the struggle?
I encourage you to dig deep when challenges arise this week. Stare the obstacles in the face and verbalize your goals.
Not every comeback attempt will be successful, but every time you put up a fight, your will to win will grow stronger. Next time the fight will not seem as enormous, the odds so great, or the outcome predetermined. Failure will become even more bitter, but your life will have new hope. With a will to win you might just find yourself winning some battles you would not have even fought before.
Last month when a journalist asked Kyler Murray how he would handle losing in the pros, he responded, "I don't plan on [losing]."
Don't plan on losing. Find a way to put up a fight and never stop striving for success.
