Keep Encouraging
As I was thinking about what to write this week, this idea of encouragement kept rising to the top of my mind. Last October I shared a post entitled, "Be an Encourager," and it remains as important to me today as it was then. I am going to share the post below, but before I do, I will write a quick thought.
Encouragement does not take a lot of work, but it makes a big impact. People care what you think of them and whether you think they can succeed. Encouragement done right is not false hope. It is an affirmation of a person's worth and direction.
Be an Encourager
You can be an encourager today. It is easy to go throughout your day and think only of yourself and your own issues. Step outside your comfort zone. Ask someone about their projects, aspirations, or current hurdles and speak words of encouragement to them.
Everyone needs an encourager. Be there not as a blind optimist but as an informed advocate. Show people that you are there for them.
A kind word can turn around someone’s day. Remember that and know the power that your words can have in shaping the trajectory of a person’s day.
Especially in situations where you are in a leadership role, you must remember the impact of your words. Your team members are listening to everything you say. Thus, you must treat everything you say as potentially character forming for your team members. Do you want to be leading them towards positive attitude and growth or towards dissatisfaction and defeatism?
Find a way to be an encourager today in order to contribute to building someone’s arc of success.
