Five Quotes to Inspire You

This week I decided to change it up a bit. Instead of sharing my own thoughts, I am going to share five quotes that inspire me and drive me to be better everyday. My hope is that at least one of them will connect with you and ring in your head as you go throughout your week.
The Quotes
You can't build a reputation on what you're going to do.

Henry Ford
I love this thought. It so clearly presents the clear issue with a culture that praises potential. It is good to see the potential in others. It is necessary to fulfill the potential in yourself to build a solid reputation.
A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. Winston Churchill
There is always much debate on whether it is better to be a pessimist or an optimist. I think it all comes down to how you define the terms. However, as a self-proclaimed optimist, this quote reminds me not to get down-trodden when things become difficult. It is an opportunity to stretch my abilities and reach new heights.
It's kind of fun to do the impossible. Walt Disney
As an entrepreneur, there is something magical about this sentiment. Take pleasure in confronting new challenges. Find joy in the process. Exploring where no one has dared go before is spellbinding.
Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. Theodore Roosevelt
This should become the mantra of everyone who doubts that they can reach their goals. Whether you have big goals, small goals, lots of resources, or not a single thread of support, you can only start where you are. Do not waste your time dreaming of more skills, a better team, or the newest software. Just start!
In the end, we can control only a tiny sliver of what happens to us. But even so, we are free to choose, free to become great by choice. Jim Collins
These are the last words in his book Great by Choice. It perfectly sums up his inspiring message. Although luck is certainly a major factor in our lives, we are still people endowed with the great freedom and responsibility of making life-altering choices.
