Conquer Complacency

On September 9th, 2011 my dad wrote a blog post titled, "This one is for both of us..." As I have begun to write my own posts, I have gained a new respect for how difficult it is to take that first step. Most worthwhile pursuits in life require a difficult first step. It is easy to think about writing, talk about writing, and brainstorm ideas. It is much harder to begin the process of habituation.
As an entrepreneur, I am all too familiar with the endless stream of new ideas that accompany whimsical vision-casting sessions. I have participated in many of these, and I do not think that they are without merit. However, in order to start moving toward a goal, you must choose a course of action and chase after it. If you do not, tomorrow will come, and you will have another brilliant idea that slips away without anything to show for it.
Although I have doubts about whether anything I am writing is valuable, I am convinced that writing is better than sitting back for another day and dreaming of writing.
So, take this first step with me towards conquering complacency. Do not let yourself get overcome by worry, doubt, or minute details. Leap forward and take hold of your next challenge. Every good habit begins with one good decision.
