5 Weeks of Habit Building: Week 4

Four weeks ago I started five weeks of habit building. I am spending these five weeks to try to build a foundation of good habits. To read more about my process, read my first post: Five Weeks of Habit Building.
The habits that I am building:
Read 30 minutes every day
Workout 5x a week
Take 3 tangible steps towards personal/career development each week
The Good
I once again can proudly present good results this week. I met all my habit goals, and I really enjoyed my week.
The most interesting part of this week occurred in my personal/career development habit. Following encouragement from my fellow investing intern at The Motley Fool (@CCM_Ryan), I decided to tweet some of my thoughts on a company that I have been researching. I quickly discovered FinTwit, an active community on Twitter that shares my interest in the stock market. In my exchanges with people the last few days, I have learned a ton and been very grateful for the kind words and good conversations. I am looking forward to getting more involved in the coming weeks and months.
I was also able to get in a better routine of working out in the morning. This really helped me get my day started right. I even threw in an extra workout this week for fun. Like I've mentioned in previous weeks, I think one of the ways that habits start to become real is when you begin to look forward to the habit.
I enjoyed reading a variety of books this past week, and I am hoping to finish one, maybe two, this coming week.
The Bad
I really cannot say that there was anything bad this week. Maybe spending too much time on Twitter, I guess, but I am turning that into a positive.
I was surprised with a couple of my failures in the first two weeks, and I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised by my results these last two weeks. Not that I didn't expect to succeed, but I wasn't expecting to be enjoying the project as much as I have been.
Lessons Learned and Adjustments for The Final Week
This was a fun week. I definitely was reminded of the importance of having the courage to put myself out there. I know it may sound weird since I post this blog every week, but sharing my work publicly is one of the hardest things I do on a regular basis. It is good for me to remember the necessity of not getting too comfortable or complacent.
For this final week, I will be focusing on fine-tuning my routines and habits. Even though next week will be the last week that I am documenting, I hope to maintain these habits for a long time to come. If I can't keep building these habits, this project would not have nearly the impact that I had hoped. I want to set myself up for long-term success.
